Joshua Jennings is a licensed independent health insurance agent and broker. He has held a Florida resident license since 2018 and carries non-resident licenses in Texas and Pennsylvania.

Independent means unattached. Josh is appointed across the major carriers rather than contracted to one, so a recommendation can follow your provider list instead of following a single company’s product shelf. An agent appointed with one carrier can only ever recommend that carrier. That is not a moral failing on their part — it is just the shape of the contract, and it is worth knowing which kind of agent you are talking to.

Over the years since 2018 he has worked with thousands of clients: families sorting out a deductible structure nobody explained to them, self-employed contractors caught by the subsidy cliff, and small employers who wanted to offer benefits without handing a second job to whoever runs payroll. Health insurance rewards obsessive familiarity with detail — which network a plan actually uses, which tier a drug lands on, how a carrier behaves at renewal, which state rule applies to a two-person LLC. Josh has built a near-encyclopedic command of that detail, and it is the reason other agents call him with the questions they cannot answer.

What he actually does

The bulk of the practice is group-rate coverage for the self-employed and small employers, setting up businesses with five to two hundred employees and handling the whole process end to end — census, multi-carrier marketing, plan design and contribution strategy, employee enrollment meetings, carrier paperwork, payroll deduction setup and Section 125 documentation. Employees then call him directly with ID card problems and claim denials rather than sitting in a carrier hold queue.

Alongside that he writes individual and family coverage — on-exchange, off-exchange, and the plans the public marketplace does not display — plus dental, vision and supplemental products layered around a core medical plan.

Provider list first, premium last. Every engagement starts with the doctors, hospital and pharmacy your household actually uses, then the prescriptions and their formulary tiers, then geography, and only then price. A premium comparison run before those steps compares numbers that are not real alternatives to each other.
